Hackney Shed is looking for new members for our Board of Trustees, to contribute to the running and oversight of our great charity.

Hackney Shed is recruiting for new members for our board of trustees.  Hackney Shed has been delivering inclusive theatre workshops in Hackney since 2001.   This is a very rewarding voluntary post, which will require commitment to quarterly meetings and some email contact and other work between meetings.  The ideal candidate should have a passion for inclusive practice and will work with the Director and the rest of the Board to ensure the effective governance of the charity.

We are hoping to recruit 3-4 new members, due to trustees coming to the end of their terms in the last few months.  We are particularly interested applications from people in the following areas:

·       People with a background in Law

·       People working in education, particularly in Hackney

·       Neuro-divergent and/or disabled people

·       Adult family members of any of our participants

However, we are interested in hearing from anyone who is interested in engaging with Hackney Shed as a trustee and feels they have skills that would contribute to our charity in another way.

Expressions of interest are welcomed now to Sarah Schofield (Secretary) at trustees@hackneyshed.org.uk Please submit your expression of interest by Friday 12th April 2024.

If you would like more information, please contact any member of the Board on trustees@hackneyshed.org.uk or Vicki Hambley on vicki@hackneyshed.org.uk

A Fairy Tale - 138.jpg

We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to gain experience in working with children and young people in an inclusive environment and to share their talents with us! We are particularly keen to find people with skills in movement and dance, music, devised drama and directing, set or costume design or technical and stage management experience.

We are a registered charity and work hard to keep our doors open via constant fundraising. Volunteer With Us
If you are interested in working with children and young people in an inclusive setting and making theatre we welcome volunteers!

Also, we’re always interested in hearing how people might use their skills to help our work. This could include facilitation, filming, photography, design, music, marketing, fundraising and SEND.

If you are interested in joining us as a volunteer then please follow this link to a simple online application form, on completion of the form we will contact you with more details and let you know which opportunities are available.

Please Note: It is the policy of Hackney Shed that all practitioners who work with our children and young people have a DBS check (which we can facilitate if you do not already have one.)
