We have another amazing workshop during half term!
Come along to the beautiful Geffrye Museum in Hackney to explore their amazing archive of objects from across the centuries. You'll work with staff from the museum and our Hackney Shed team to develop characters inspired by the objects and get crafty by making some objects of your own.
No experience necessary. All welcome!
Who: Young people aged 10-15 years. Places are limited so make sure to sign up quick.

We are looking for a new Chair of Trustees
Since 2001, Hackney Shed has been working with children and young people to provide an exciting, vibrant, creative and accepting place for children and young people in the London Borough of Hackney. We come together to share ideas and produce exciting theatre.
We are recruiting a Chairperson to build capacity and experience to support our charity on its journey.
How can you help?
Building on a hugely successful history, we are looking for an enthusiastic and well-connected chairperson who can help us. There are lots of exciting projects underway and opportunities to grow. The charity needs your help and leadership to continue to flourish and build an even bigger and better future.
As a Chair of Trustees, the successful applicant will share the responsibility for the overall governance and strategic direction of Hackney Shed. Providing knowledge and guidance to help direct the group strategy. The role will require an active involvement in the group and offer a fun and interesting opportunity to use your skills and build upon our 17 years of continued success.
You will have a commitment and passion for the arts and inclusivity in our society. Coupled with a strong desire to use your skills and experience to support local people achieve great things and develop their skills for life.
By 2020 we aim to:
- Reach an increasing membership and audience base by:
- Continuing to deliver and develop our high-quality programme of workshops and theatre making
- Achieve a diversified funding model to achieve medium to long-term stability and sustainability
- Develop a sustainable model for expanding workshop delivery
- Increased and diversified board of trustees
Remuneration: The role of Chair is voluntary and is not a paid position. Expenses for travel may be claimed
Time commitment: 4 x Board meetings per year. The Chair is also expected to have regular meetings with the Artistic Director, and also represent the Charity at various events and meetings
Purpose of the role
The Chair will hold the Board and the Artistic Director to account for the Charity’s mission and vision, providing inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring that each trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity. The Chair will also support, and, where appropriate, challenge the Artistic Director and ensure that the Board functions as a unit and works closely with all paid staff to achieve agreed objectives. He or she will act as an ambassador and the public face of the charity in partnership with the Artistic Director.
